In steel application
Monitoring
oxygen activity throughout the steel making process is essential for production
control and final as-cast quality. In less than 10 seconds, our expendable
oxygen sensors measure the melt's oxygen activity over a wide concentration
range in areas from furnace tapping, through ladle refining and continuous
casting.

In steelmaking slag application
Quality
and special steels are refined through close control of ladle top slags.
Knowledge of the slags' oxidation potential with respect to the liquid
steel oxidation state can be employed to improve alloy recovery, desulphurisation
,non-metallic inclusion capture and lining wear. Based on Celox oxygen
probe technology, a special liquid immersion sensor measures the slag
oxygen activity and predicts the FeO content in a few seconds. For off-line
oxygen activity measurement from a solid slag sample a dedicated analytical
system is offered.
Brand names: Celox-SLAC®, QuiK-Slag®, and FerroActis
For foundries
Final graphite shape and matrix structures of iron castings are closely
related to the iron's oxygen activity. Additions of magnesium, among others,
are used for vermicular or spheroidal graphite structure crystallization
and are related to the oxygen activity of the iron. A special Celox-style
oxygen sensor can be used to control the production of vermicular graphite
iron known as CGI, compact graphite iron.
