Based on the thermal analysis of a solidified metal sample, Heraeus Electro-Nite's instant carbon control sensors are available as a poured cup version or as an immersion sensor. During primary steel melting and steel foundry casting, an instant carbon measurement prior to tap can avoid time delays and off-specification chemistry, especially where medium carbon tap levels are common.
