Specific expendable sensors were recently developed by Heraeus Electro-Nite to measure process parameters for the aluminium reduction process. Through electrolytic reduction in cryolite baths, liquid aluminium metal is produced in the primary aluminium industry. Bath temperature, liquidus temperature, superheat and cathode voltage drop are the measured parameters on reduction cells.
